This image was captured in the Spring of 2018 on a NSW north coast wetland. The iron stained water and tree provide such stark contrast to the natural blues. The intense blue comes from two sources, the first being the blue sky reflecting off a thin biofilm on the water surface. Determining the source of the deeper blue below the reflective surface is more difficult. At the time of writing I think that aluminium from the soil may be impacting the water colour.
